First post from the new laptop!

Today finally the stars and the planets (and the satellites if you wish) have aligned themselves strategically to orchestrate this grand event. The new laptop, the Internet connection, and yours truly are all in the same place at the same time!

It has been one week at TIFR for me. The accommodation is nice and the office too. And that is a white board in my office. (Did I hear someone ask the relevance? Well, if you want to ask such questions you better not be here!)

This evening I am going back home for the weekend. Tomorrow there is a big party. This is a party my parents have arranged because I have come back from Chennai and also because they are happy that I submitted the thesis. I feel strange, embarrassed, but in a good way.

Here is a 'fool'-ish joke I tell at the risk of losing all my friends (would you want to be friends with someone who cracks such jokes? Not unless you are crazy!):
I was taking a walk near the sea in TIFR. I just uttered "sea rocks!" and a friend of mine asked, "yeah, so what about them?"

Ok, on this note, we part (very likely for good).

Complete k joke! I am sure you made it up all by yourself! Which “friend” would stoop to such pathetic levels? But let us not spoil the happy mood all around! Great for you that you are back home and making everyone there happy! Though I am pretty sure there are enough — dare I say dear — things in Chennai that you are missing! :)

By the way, unrelated to all this, what is to explain the fact that Chennai also seems very happy these days?

Oh naw. You are too pretty, intelligent, kind, smart, lively and all that, for your friends to leave you.

@sps: Ahem, yes I miss you!! :)

@anonymous: Is that Akshay or Beli? In any case, thank you thank you.

@vish: Thanks for visiting. I assume the LOL was for the joke (conveniently)!

Of course you know I didn't mean me! :-) By the way, your profile still says IMSc, Chennai, etc. Change, change!

@sps: Oh yes! Thanks for reminding me to update the profile. I'll do it immediately.

Hey unpred, thankyathankya!!

Now that we are at it, don't you also think that the joke is awesome? :)

This joke is in the innocent category. People leaving you because of this is the last thing you need to worry about.

But, knowing you, I can assure you that you are capable of certain "jokes" that will make people keep a safe distance from you for the rest of their life. I do, and I will.

The previous is an amazing anonymous commenter. Nice way of keeping a distance pal!! By checking the blog I maintain and commenting on it, you sure are keeping a lot of distance :D. Nice joke, no?

Thanks for staying anonymous, though. That way I can keep a distance from you!

How come only the safety of an anon identity gives him the courage to speak his mind???

Anons - Can't live with or without them.

Valentine's special

its a love story of two strange people who never knew they could fall for each other when they first met they only ended up fighting but slowy it became clear to them that they sure shared something a small problem happened when pride overtook him he thought she was less smarter than him she would solve a puzzle and he would solve it again he would tell her that she was simply an idea away from him... he said that he always gets this idea and then he does all that she can and probably much more... one day she decided his behaviour had to be checked she thought for a while and then she said... fine, then you sure can do everything but if you are strictly more smart you have to do the following think of some puzzle that you can easily do and then give it to me to solve and lets see if i can't do.... all the king's men and all the king's horses could not come up with a puzzle like this the duo got closer and the world around more curious today as it stands the puzzle is still ...

Her.

Did I mention that I am a lawyer? I passed with pretty good grades and was hired by a small private law firm. My boss happens to be a very professional person. Also very famous for the criminal cases. What he sublets his assistants are simply cases of divorce. I have handled as many divorce cases as I have attended marriages. I come to believe that, it all adds up to zero. If I was slightly less optimistic I would never have gotten married. I was late for my work. My friend once told me that he works in a firm where he doesn't have to reach on a certain time. The work environment is so good that it hardly matters as long as you are giving enough work output. He was amazed to know that I take same train every morning to reach office at the same time. I am not a very disciplined guy or anything. But I hate missing my work timings. In any case, the days on which I am late, the only thing I feel bad about is I don't get to see her. I have never spoken to her in my life. But her app...

Slumdog Millionaire, what's the fuss all about?

I saw the movie a few days ago. I really don't understand: why so much fuss? If an Indian director makes a fully filmy hindi movie, no one gives a damn about it. But some non-indian comes and makes this movie and people are going all ga ga about it. A.R. Rehman has given music better than "jai ho". Anil Kapur has done roles better than this. This movie has set new records in making a big deal out of a not-so-amazing movie. I say this because, even a huge fuss has been made about why there is so much fuss about this movie. That is like the second order fuss about the movie! And here, I am making the third order fuss with a huge lot accompanying me in doing so. To start the tirade-- The main guy is such a put off! He has a unique expression on his face, indicating he really has no clue what people are talking about. You are supposed to be poor, not dumb for god's sake! Even some of the witty lines are lost due to his dialog delivery. For example, when one police man say...
