This movie released many years back. But I saw it just 2-3 days ago. I quiet liked it!! I like the idea of a man being an island himself!! The main guy, the hero of the movie, says at the beginning of the movie that, 100 years back people could not think of living alone. In the sense that, for security, for meeting day to day needs etc etc people depended on each other. But now with all the technology and conveniences, a man really needs nobody to help him with his materialistic needs. He can live by himself. Suppose he has all the money, like our own main guy is shown to have, he would just watch movies and listen to music day in and day out (basically do what he likes without getting too involved in people) and lead a stress free, zero complication, independent life with no emotional baggage. Well, but we humans are prone to attachments and so is our main guy. A kid gets into his life due to some strange situation. And they both become very close pals. The main guy, starts giving a damn about this kid. Well rest of the story is just another set of words easy to predict. But seclusion by choice is the idea. Question: Can one get rid of all emotional dependencies? The way movie ends, our main guy is far from leading a reclusive life. But in real life is it possible to go on living without any emotional dependencies?
I saw the movie a few days ago. I really don't understand: why so much fuss? If an Indian director makes a fully filmy hindi movie, no one gives a damn about it. But some non-indian comes and makes this movie and people are going all ga ga about it. A.R. Rehman has given music better than "jai ho". Anil Kapur has done roles better than this. This movie has set new records in making a big deal out of a not-so-amazing movie. I say this because, even a huge fuss has been made about why there is so much fuss about this movie. That is like the second order fuss about the movie! And here, I am making the third order fuss with a huge lot accompanying me in doing so. To start the tirade-- The main guy is such a put off! He has a unique expression on his face, indicating he really has no clue what people are talking about. You are supposed to be poor, not dumb for god's sake! Even some of the witty lines are lost due to his dialog delivery. For example, when one police man say...

that sums it all.
Alone/Personal/Self time though important, loneliness & boredom takes over soon. We, as humans, need variety in life. Society and relationships provides that. One doesn't always need a human company.

there are all sorts of people....ofcourse there could be a few who are not emotionally dependent on others. But it also depends
on what u mean by emotional dependence.
